FPANJ Awards Kenneth Shapiro with Lifetime Achievement Award
Upper Montclair, NJ (NOVEMBER 2015) - A 2013 Heart of Financial Planning Award winner with the Financial Planning Association of New Jersey (FPANJ) has now also received the organization's Lifetime Achievement Award. The accolade was given to Kenneth B. Shapiro at FPANJ's Fall Conference in late October.
The Lifetime Achievement award is presented to an individual or business that has provided outstanding service to the FPANJ, other professional organizations, and the financial planning community over an extended period. The recipient is recognized for dedication and service to the FPANJ and the financial planning profession.
Shapiro is an independent RIA and President of Shapiro Financial Security Group, Inc. and holds CPA/PFS and CFP® designations. He has over 30 years experience in financial planning, investment management and tax planning services. He has made numerous contributions to the FPANJ and the financial planning profession as well as the NJ Society of CPAs (NJSCPA) and the accounting profession.
Among Shapiro's contributions:
- Two separate terms on the FPANJ Board- First as treasurer where he improved the financial position of the chapter by cutting costs, increasing revenue while maintaining member programs
- As Director of Education and Professional Development, he expanded the quality and reach of the chapter's educational programs
- Instructor in the CPA Review Program
- Adjunct Professor in Accounting at Monmouth University
- Conducted FPANJ Financial Literacy Education Community Seminars
- Held leadership positions at the state and county level with the NJ Society of CPAs
- Organized charity programs to raise funds for Junior Achievement Financial Literacy
- Recipient of the FPANJ 2012 Distinguished Service Award
- Named 2009 Community Volunteer of the Year by the NJ Society of CPAs
FPANJ President Bill Stratton praised Shapiro, stating, "I do not know anyone who does more for the financial planning profession and at the same time is active in his community and raising his family. Ken is a knowledgeable resource for financial planning and tax planning, and is well-known for his willingness to help other advisors with their financial planning and tax planning questions."
Shapiro is a Certified Public Accountant from Toms River, NJ. In being named a Heart of Financial Planning Award recipient in 2013, he was recognized for providing exemplary service by his involvement in FPANJ's activities and community events dedicated to financial literacy. In this same year Shapiro was named one of "50 Over 50" by NJSCPA, which honored accounting veterans for their ongoing contributions to the CPA profession. He was also previously recognized as the Community Volunteer of the Year by the NJSCPA for his investment of more than 100 hours of helping others.
