PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY
Kenneth B. Shapiro
is an independent registered investment
advisor and President of Shapiro Financial Security Group,
Inc. in Hazlet, NJ. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Personal
Financial Specialist (PFS) designation.
Ken’s
firm offers comprehensive fee-based financial
planning, investment management and tax preparation
services. His particular niche area of specialization is in
providing tax and financial consulting services on employee
stock option diversification strategies.
Ken has over thirty years of
experience from positions in the public, private, &
educational sectors of the profession, including ten years
as a full time
college professor earlier in his career. He was an
instructor for the Person Wolinsky CPA Review Program for
over eleven years, and recently completed an assignment as
an adjunct professor at Monmouth University.
Ken is a frequent speaker at financial literacy programs and
personal finance or tax planning conferences, and was named
2008-2009 Community Volunteer of the Year Award by New
Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) for
his efforts on behalf of the society’s Financial Literacy &
Help Center programs. He has also contributed to a number
of articles published in local & national publications.
Mr. Shapiro
currently serves as chairperson of the NJSCPA Monmouth Ocean
County Chapter’s Personal Financial Planning Committee. Ken
is a past chairperson of the society’s Financial Literacy
Committee and its Personal Financial Planning Resource
Group. He also served a four-year stint as Treasurer &
Executive Board Member of the New Jersey Chapter of the
Financial Planners Association (FPANJ).
Ken received his Masters in Business Administration degree
in Finance from Rutgers University in Newark, NJ, and his
undergraduate Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from
Rider College, now Rider University, in Trenton, New Jersey.
Ken resides in Toms River, NJ with his wife, Sandi. He
escapes from his professional activities by being a
“hands-on” dad to his daughter, Reba, and his two sons,
Russell and Devon.
